The White Mountain Aquatic and Fitness Foundation regrettably announces the closing of the White Mountain Aquatic Center located at the New England Inn in Intervale, NH. The last day of operation of the Center will be June 30, 2018.

The Center anticipates providing program offerings, for all ages, through June 30, 2018.

Monthly memberships will still be available as well as Learn to Swim Classes and Swim Team Practices.

The Center has served the aquatic community for almost seven years and has provided swim instruction, aquatic exercise, swim team and master's swimming to the Mt. Washington Valley.

The operation of the Center has been supported over the years by many financial contributors, volunteers, members and parents who value the need for aquatic opportunities in the Valley for all ages. During the last few years, the Center has struggled to remain open to the public as revenue has not matched the cost of operating and staffing the Center. The Foundation and Board members have subsidized the Center to continue to offer its quality programs and now finds itself in a position of no longer having the financial reserves necessary to continue.

The Foundation and its Board of Directors, in consultation with the Center Director and staff have concluded that the Center must be closed to avoid a more significant financial shortfall.

Over the next few months, the Foundation Board of Directors, the Center and its staff will take action to shut down the operations of the Center and return the management of the pool back to the operators of the New England Inn.

Again, the Center anticipates providing program offerings, for all ages, through June 30, 2018.
Monthly memberships will still be available as well as Learn to Swim Classes and Swim Team Practices.

Going forward the best way to contact the Center will be via email as the office will not be staffed on a consistence basis.

The Foundation Board of Directors wishes to thank all the many individuals, foundations, local businesses and others who have assisted both financially and with time and talent to try to make the Center a success for the Valley. The Foundation Board of Directors hopes that the dream of a permanent aquatic facility will become a reality for the Valley.

Swimming = the perfect exercise!

Joel Stager, Ph.D., director of the Counsilman Center for the Science of Swimming at Indiana University at Bloomington, who has studied the effects of swimming for years says: “You can’t say the same for running or strength training.” And that makes swimming something you can do for your entire life—a major bonus because it can literally help you stay younger: “Our research shows that habitual swimmers are biologically up to 20 years younger than their actual age,” Stager says.

The data, which were presented at an American College of Sports Medicine Conference, revealed that a swimmer’s blood pressure, cholesterol levels, cardiovascular performance, central nervous system, and cognitive functioning are all comparable to someone far younger.

DROP IN Rate is still $5 per swimmer!  Open to the public - come swim with us!
