This is an excellent opportunity for individuals that do not know how to swim or simply want to improve their swimming skills. Not only will swimmers be safer in the water, learning to swim will provide an opportunity for better fitness and rehabilitation. Becoming a better swimmer will benefit those so that they may enjoy water based activities with friends and family. The following testimonial is from a Gorham, New Hampshire, resident, James Patry and his decision to learn how to swim. James is 39 years old and is the Public Relations Director at Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

“My recent commitment to learn to swim comes after years of putting it off out of fear...a fear which had been built up so much in my mind, that it seemed incomprehensible that I could ever learn to be comfortable in water. Having learned at a young age that a great uncle of mine died in his mid-40s by drowning, my fears were only amplified by some unsuccessful attempts at swimming lessons during my youth.”

“For the past few years, I've made it a point to push myself outside of my comfort zone and learn something new---but learning to swim was always off limits.  That wasn't just slightly out of my comfort zone! That was MILES outside of my comfort zone.  However, after having back surgery this past August, I learned that there was never a better time for me to learn this new form of exercise, and put the former demons to bed.  I am making progress, and am finally confident that with some more work and pushing myself in Adult Swim Lessons, I'll be enjoying myself swimming.”
